How do we start designing our renovation?

The first step in the process would be to contact the office to schedule one of our design professionals to come out and do a site visit to hear your ideas so we can come up with a plan that meets both your needs and budget.

Can Sand Dollar Customs help with the design?

Yes, we absolutely can. We have experience in kitchen and bath design as well as new construction and remodeling projects.

How can I monitor the progress of our project?

Most of our customers are second homeowners and cannot be onsite on a regular basis to see progress. We can send weekly photographs and videos of the project and can provide additional information upon request.

How disruptive will a renovation be to my family if we are living there during the process?

We take every precaution to minimize any inconvenience to your families’ day to day life on each project. We maintain a clean worksite during the project and every project is professionally cleaned upon completion.

Do you recommend moving out during the renovation?

This would depend on the scope of the renovation, however many of our year round residents are able to stay in their home with little to no interruption in their daily lives.

How can I form a general idea of a budget for my project?

Our design professionals can work up an estimate for you based on the initial site visit.

____________________________

How long does a standard renovation take?

Projects vary in length and can range from 3 weeks for a bathroom renovation to 4 months for a whole house renovation to 10 months to build a new home.

Do you offer a warranty on remodels? If so, what is covered?

Is Sand Dollar Customs licensed and insured?

Yes, both owners hold unrestricted Construction Supervisors Licenses, Home Improvement Contractor licenses, standard and Moderate Risk Lead remediation licenses in the state of Massachusetts. Insurances include Workers Compensation, Vehicle and Liability Insurance. We also carry a $3 million dollar umbrella policy.

____________________________

Will I need permits?

Yes, Massachusetts requires permits for almost all renovation projects. We will NOT do work requiring a permit without the necessary permits. If a builder is willing to work on your home without a permit, that is a red flag and you should consider using another builder.

____________________________

If I need permits, will you assist me in obtaining them?

Any and all permits necessary for the work will be included in the estimate and handled by Sand Dollar Customs.

____________________________

Will the owner of the company be personally involved with my project?

Yes, absolutely. At Sand Dollar Customs, our owners are fully involved in your project from beginning to completion.

____________________________

Is there a follow-up or walkthrough after the renovation where things can be fixed or minorly adjusted after the renovation or custom build?

Yes, we do a final walk through with each homeowner. On the rare occasion that there is anything that needs to be corrected, we address it promptly.
